I am designing a modified GS450 engine but before I dive in, I need to know what the nominal dimensions of the crankshaft are. AKA the diameter and width of the crank pins, the bearing clearances, and the diameter of the crankshaft support bearings? (no idea if thats correct terminology) Does anyone out there know these numbers? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a manual at all? I'm looking at the Clymer now and it seems to have all the measurements you need.1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

If I get some time I can transpose the figures from the Clymer, but I'm not sure when I'll get time to do that at the moment.1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

I'm curious regarding the scope of the proposed project? Are you thinking about modifying the crankcase, and if so, in what way?Ed
To measure is to know.

I haven't gotten a manual yet, I wanted to find out if the crank would work for my project before I started buying up stuff :-P (btw I checked the link, and it looks like all the bearings are 32 mm diameter)
I probably won't be modifying the crankcases too much, but everything north of them is probably gonna get worked over pretty heavily. I just wanted to figure out which parts would be adaptable without too much machine work, and get a few baseline measurements to go from. I haven't decided the extent of the modifications, but this is a great starting point!
