    different engine

    Evening all, finally pulled my gs 250 out of the shed the other day, thought i would start on the things that i've been planning on for the past few years. one of them is to put a bigger engine in there, can anyone tell me if any other gs or gsx or infact and engine would fit in there with out much work? i might have the chance of a gs 1100 at a good price but it isn't a good price if it won't fit.

    I would say no. The GS250 frame is small and the GS1000 engine is really wide.

      sure, just like you could take a Chevy 350, and stuff it into a Chevy Aveo. You would have to change the forks and the rear shocks for starters (not to mention the brakes), and that's only if you could somehow fit an 1100 engine inside the 250 frame, and be able to bolt it into the frame. If you want a bigger engine, you're better off just getting a bigger bike, but my advice would be to just enjoy the 250. One of the many great things about small bikes is that they are very much under appreciated, and therefore cheaper than bigger bikes. They don't have as much power, but they are typically a hell of a lot lighter too, and cheaper to insure as well. Then, of course, it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

        Easiest way to put a bigger engine into that bike is to just go buy a bigger bike. Saves the time, money, and heartache.

                    No troll bub, i just like doing things differently. like my last project was to convert a punto to rear wheel drive.
                    thanks for all the comments, i've decide to stick with the twin cylinder because i've made this into a hardtail and moved the pegs futher forward which offcause whould be impossiable with a 4 cylinder.
