Haha, Prime example of a silly little thing.

While tinkering around with the carb adjustments today I realized why it would suddenly cut out and die while idling. I had the petcock set to 'ON' but have less than a gallon of fuel in the tank, so of course it isnt getting any fuel. Oh the simple things in life, all I had to do was set it to 'RES'.

And there I was looking into replacing the petcock...

Otherwise though UPS doesn't deliver on the weekend so looks like my boots will finally arrive on Monday and the fun can continue.

Anyone located in the Denver Metro area who's interested in an enjoyable afternoon of carb tune and sync? I'll provide the beer!

So still havnt replaced the boots but went for a decent ride today and noticed the throttle sticks at about 4000 rpm. If I can get it below 3000 rpm before I pull the clutch in it will drop to idle, otherwise it rises to at least 4500 rpm and stays there until the clutch is slightly released.

Clutch problem or air leak problem? I'm thinking air leak, and hoping that my replacement boots will fix this problem.

Have you tried pulling a random plug and see if the revs drop ? might give you an idea where the problem lies.

stupid question, have you thoroughly cleaned the carbs and replaced the o-rings and gaskets? Whilst cleaning the carbs, did you blow out all the jets with compressed air? A friend of mine cleaned my carbs with a parts cleaner, and used compressed air to blow out the jets. You should have seen the crap that blew out of some of them. What kind of shape is your tank in? Is there rust in it? I had my tank sealed so that I wouldn't have to worry about rust anymore. Also, if your bike is like mine, you don't have an air screw to adjust. The only adjustment you can make is the idle screw, other than balancing the carbs and the throttle cable.
