Bolt behind the starter cover?
Hey dudes, what is the large, vertical bolt behind the starter cover on the right side? Is it the "oil gallery bolt"? If not, is there an oil gallery bolt? Thanks.Tags: None

Sorry, but the manual won't help that much.
That bolt is one of several that hold the upper and lower cases together.
Not the "oil gallery bolt", but it IS necessary to have it there.

Thanks Steve, I was looking to get one of RenoBruce's oil pressure gauges, but unfortunately it seems the GS450 doesn't have an oil gallery bolt, bummer. There is an Ebay seller, not RenoBruce, that lists GS450 as a model these gauges will work with.

Is one of these, the bolt your talking about ?
The large one on the left is holding a spring and plunger against the gear select drum.
There is one place that is directly in line with the oil pressure sensor. Its just below the timing case cover. If you look at the manual, there is one page that shows the overall oil flow in the engine and you can see this plug. I believe its used as test point.

Mekanix, thanks. That is exactly the bolt I was talking about. I hadn't noticed that bolt on the right side. I would have to run a line if I wanted to see the oil pressure gauge.
