    Idle issue

On my 450. It will be idling at 1,100 or so then I will rev it to about 3 or 4 K then when i let off the throttle it dips back 800 or 900 and i have to give it a bit of gas just a little so come back to 1,100. Whats going on? Any ideas? The air screws are at 1 turn out.

What maintenance have you performed? Detail the condition of the bike so we can help guide you.

Pretty much everything. Carbs are clean and everything. The floats are good and set right. http://s1116.photobucket.com/albums/...20L%20project/

one thing I forgot is that that carbs haven't been synched. And as far as I know they never have.

Assuming you changed the intake boot O-rings, and the boots are in good shape, I'd try 2.5 turns on the idle mixture pilot screws. And sync the carbs.

A getto sync can be performed by jacking up the idle to 2000 rpm or so and then pull off one spark plug at a time. Adjust the sync until the idle drops the same amount with the bike running on one cylinder.

This technique won't work if you haven't adjusted the valves; you need an engine that's generally solid.

          Good luck

You're idle mixture is too rich, that's why the revs dip below 1000rpm when you throttle back.

+1, a bit too rich, I would leave as is unless your plugs tell differently or you're working on gas mileage.

Alright. What's the ideal idle speed? And is turning the screw out make it leaner? And one other thing. The plugs are a bit on the white side. Any ideas? The O rings look good but I haven't replaced them. I did sand down te carb boots because they where a little bit warped. I also do not have the copper washers for the synch cab tube. I used some different ones. Maybe it's leaking there? I know I am talking out of my butt but the more into the better.
