    seized piston

a gsx 250 came into my possession recently , i thought there'd be trouble when i saw the plugs had been left out & the bike left outside .trying to turn the engine resulted in no movement , ive stripped the top end off & found water & rust. managed to get everything moving except for one of the pistons, ive given it plenty of penetrating fluid & am going away for 2 weeks so am going to leave it. what to try next when i get back ? heat, hammers ? if still no joy. mike

Even if you manage to break the piston free, there will be a NASTY line in the cylinder where the rust is/was.

Your best bet is to find another engine.

well, i've managed to free it using a big hammer & a lump of hardwood. i think i also know why it was left open to the elements as well, one of the exhaust valve ends had become mushroomed over for some reason & obviously wasn't opening properly. the corrosion in the bore is quite bad, does anyone think a half mill re-bore would clear it ?
