    Rear Brakes

Took the 1983 gr650 bobber for a short ride. Rear brake is squeaking loudly when I apply the brake. Seems like the rear drum brake will need to be replaced. However, I heard that those hardly ever need to be replaced. The bike has 15,000 on it. Could it be something else? Or... should I just replace the rear drum brake? Thanks.

May have to take caliper off and may sure it is releasing like it should. If they haven't been rebuilt may have to take them all apart and replace or clean up pistons, also crud get inside and can cause them not to work right. I believe there instructions on Basscliff's site to do the rebuild. terrylee
