sprung a leak(dont know what this part is called)

hello fellow gs'ers. as i am new here and new to my gs450L and new to motorcycles in general, i am asking for some help.

i bought the bike from a guy a few weeks ago, it runs pretty good and looks pretty good also. it has a few little quirks to it which i am finding out and trying to fix.
i took it on my longest ride since i have gotten it the other day (30 miles) and by the time i got home it was shifting funny and started feeling more noticeably hot. i checked the oil and it was a little below the fill line.i took about half a quart to get it back up. it turns out that the gasket on the left side crankcase cover (suzuki parts websites call it magneto gasket) is the culprit. new gasket has been ordered and will be here soon.

now my problem is, there are 2 other small leaks that i do not know what the part is called. i am hoping you great people can help me identify it.

    lets hope this works

thanks a lot for any help.

in case you were wondering, heres a pic of my bike, but now i have painted the front and rear fenders black and will be painting the tank black as well.

    thanks again

I don't see any leaks, if you're referring to the underneath that chrome cap, it's probably a leaky half moon under your valve cover gasket or the gasket itself, and.............
if you're refering to the doo dad that has the knob with coiled spring sticking out the back of you cylinders, that is a automatic cam chain tensioner.

Yea the leaks there aren't too bad. Thanks for helping me figure out what they are called. Now next question, how hard is it to fix these leaks?

Steve, great job describing the parts in question.

          The boring part name:

You'll need a new valve cover gasket, and maybe new half moon seals that are inside those chrome covers (may be able to put some RTV sealant around them and get them to seal. You'll have to remove carbs. to get cam tensioner off, there is a "how to on Basscliffs' site about rebuilding it. terrylee
