    compression test problem

i did a compression test by jumping the positive to the green striped wire on the starter u can hear it click but nothing eles happened and nothing showed up on the compression meter would that mean the starters bad anyway to test the starter

It could be the solenoid or the starter.

If you short the two big terminals on the solenoid that will bypass it.

If it turns over, the solenoid is knackered.

If it doesn't, then either the starter's knackered or something is stopping it turning.

Have you turned the engine over by hand? Can't remember if you said you did or not...

umm. how do we know the battery is any good? start from the basics..and don't ever assume anything . you'll git burned lol.
you need a voltmeter. Harbor freight has 'em for 5 bucks.
check battery voltage first at the battery + and minus. it should not be lower than 10 or 11 volts when trying to crank it.

Compression testing doesn't do anything for the starter. Can you please explain again what you are trying to do?

If I remember correctly (from your other thread)... you're trying to test compression before spending any $$$ on fixing her up... yes?

Take the round cover off on the right side and use a wrench to see if the engine will turn. That cover should have a small harness with three wires coming out from under the cover.
