Not a Suzuki but a twin repair needed
I got a worn out starter gear on the 73 TX750. Found some numbers and put the calipers to the race that engages to the dowels in the starter clutch. The race measures .050 UNDER SIZE. The factroy new OD is supposed to be 1.700 and the measurement now is 1.650...so its way under size. The thing I need is this. I need someone that has access to a bridgeport and can OD grind the gear. I plan on welding the race up and having that done, I think all that would be needed is the OD reground and it should lock up tightly again. Im not quite sure if it would need to be hardened again...any input is welcome.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.Tags: None

OR.......Maybe have whats left of the race ground down and have a standardised hardened sleeve pressed on and bonded to repair the gear?????MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Sent him a message. That new style starter clutch he has looks much more beefier than the 3 roller stuff that the TX and Suzuki uses.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
