    Clutch Issues

    Any ideas?

I recently took the side covers off to replace some weeping gaskets and took a look at the clutch while I was at it. Everything was within spec so I put it back together, torqued the spring bolts to the 7 ft-lbs as stated in the manual and called it a day.

I've adjusted the clutch cable and free play per Nessism's instructions, all cables in, release lock nut, screw til tension then out 1/4 turn, 1-2mm of free play.

The bike will easily shift from 1-n-2-3 without the clutch pulled in. Then, when in gear, with the clutch pulled in, its much more difficult to push than I ever remember it being.

What have I overlooked or done wrong?

I should note I haven't been able to ride it since this work so I don't know how it performs on the road yet.

        Drive it.

        The clutch should free up.

Could be just sticky plates that need to be bathed in oil again.

If it doesn't, It could be that the plates have been worn in a certain way and now they are not in the same order that they wore in.

In case anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future. There was nothing wrong with the clutch, it was just dried out as suggested. After having the engine running for a bit it was perfectly normal.
