77 gs500?
There is a guy selling a 1977 gs500 on my local craigslist. It is a twin with drub brakes and a kickstart. Is this right? I didn't realize there was a gs500 in 77 with kickstart and drums. Sounds more like a 400x to me but he says the title and everything all matches.Tags: None

Only way it would be a 500 is if he's bored it out. Definitely only had 400's back then...1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

There is a GT500, which is the same twin-cylinder 2-stroke, but it had a front disk brake, starting in 1975.
There is a GT550, but it was a three-cylinder 2-stroke and a front disk, starting in 1973.

There was a GS500 back then, maybe not available in the US, and a very limited run. I can't remember if it was a twin or a 4? I am thinking 4. a little research on suzukicycles.org will turn it up easily.'77 GS750 920cc heavily modded

79-81, typo below saying it was descended from the 400/425 family, photo shows 4 pipes, description says inline 4. From Suzukicycles.org:
The air cooled GS500E engine traces its roots back to the first Suzuki four-strokes. The 1977 GS400 became the GS425, then the GS450, and finally the GS500, which retains the same basic layout and qualities, such as reliability, that made the original GS engines so appealing.
