More than a few I've seen develop a base gasket leak, the gasket design has some pretty thin narrow areas to cover, and blow out sometimes. The Gr650 I had did that, repaired it in one weekend. Easy bikes to work on. I modified a Ninja rear mono shock to replace the OEM to drop the height a little as well as raise the forks into the tree a tad, as it was for my wife at the time. She loved it but decided to be a passenger instead of a rider, too many medical issues distracting her from safely riding any distance.

Riding mine less now that I have an SV650, but I really like the bike. Just an easy bike to ride.
True on the base gasket leak that Oldskool mentioned. He is better at working on them than I am, as is Big Rich. Both helped me at different times to get mine back on the road.
Have mine running well, but paint off the tank and sidepanels. Working on getting it ready to paint. Going to have to let mine go, can't afford two bikes--but I am going to miss it.

Any kind of 2 up seat will really need to use the stock seat pan / frame rails to support the weight. You might be able to fab up some type of removable cowl to fit the stock pan though.
Edit: Or better yet, find somebody who is parting out a GR650 (ahem.....) and buy the seatpan to make a cafe style seat out of. Then you can just switch back and forth whenever you'd like.Last edited by Guest; 06-18-2013, 10:35 PM.

Frankinzuki - pretty much any "normal" Suzuki front end will bolt right on. I've had the stock front end, than a dual disc 35mm from a GS650 (?), and now a dual disc 37mm from an 81 GS850 on mine. The rear end on the other hand.....I'm still working on that. I do know that at least the swinger from a GS750 (I think the later E model?) looks almost identical, except it's got the hydraulic brake and is made from aluminum. The swing arm wouldn't be too hard to swap, it's a matter of changing the brake lever from mechanical to hydraulic and finding a rear wheel that "fits".

I bought our GR650 Tempter off a local impound yard as a stolen recovery. It was "rattle can black" and rusty, and in sad shape when I got it. I got most of my repair parts off of eBay, and a local wrecker. I've attached an after pic of the bike afterI had it repainted in silver/blue scheme (even though it was originally a red/black scheme. I've given the bike to my boy. Still have a couple of accessories I'd like to add..Last edited by Guest; 06-20-2013, 03:20 AM.
