    Gs400 air box question

In my gs400 (gsx400) air box I have a small hole that appears to be their from factory. It is at the back (towards the rear of bike) on the box in the middle. Not wanting to introduce any vac leaks I am assuming this is a factory drain hole. On the parts diagram there is no tube in this position.

Anyone with this style air box comment

I think its the same airbox as the 450s could anyone check theirs for this hole?

    EDIT!

From an ebay auction there does appear to be a whole at the back on the underside. But im not sure if there is supposed to be a drain or plug for it?

I don't remember any extra "airholes" in either of my '81s .
However the tube attachment is for the breather pipe off the engine head...to reburn oil vapors a la pcv valves in cars

Your Model has the older style air box so it different. From the pic i posted you can see the tube at the back (Carb side) that is the drain tube.. but notice the little round port type thing at the front of the Pic. Thats what im asking about. There is a hole it . Im not sure if its an additional drain (or maby their to balance preasure) or if it needs to be pluged or is their two drain tubes on this type of airbox. There is nothing for the bottom hole on the parts list..

I'll have a looksee at mine on the 'EX today, (The seat is off presently. Standby....)Looking at the air-inlets on your pictured airbox, is it possible for rain to get in? There's no chance of that on my older one as the air inlet is way under the seat.

Thouse inlets go under the seat so i dont think it would be likely that rain could get into them.. I cant say 100 percent no rain ever would get in.

You airbox is a different design than mine is. so you might not have it. I need a 82+ GS(X)400 owner or a gs450 of simlar vintage to let me know

Heh, I always tell stores to look for GS450 parts when asking about my 83 GS400. There aren't many of us out there, seems it's Canada/Europe specific.

I just came back from working on my bike, I'll see if I can take a look next time I'm at it.
