When the bike is started cold it makes a terrible banging noise every time it fires at idle. Verry mutch like rod or crank noise. If you rev it up to say 2000rpm or more the rapping goes away. As the engine warms up the rapping eventually goes away. When the bike is left to cool for 1/2 hour or so it will make the noise until it gets warmed back up again.
Other than this noise, the bike runs absolutly beautifull. I love this thing, plenty of pep, rides nice, and handles great.
The other part of this equasion is when I first got this bike, unknown to me, it had one bad signal generator and would "kick back" on the starter when trying to start it. A few times while trying to start it during my diagnosis of the sig-gen it made noises like it was breaking teeth off of the starter gear train somewhere. I took the side cover off and everything looks perfectly fine with all of the gears for the starting system. One thing i did notice is you can wiggle and move the starter clutch around quite a bit.
I know for sure the synch is spot on, both cylinders are indeed firing, and when you turn the motor over by hand there is no noticable "cluncks" throuout the rotation. (Edit) I also have done the old screwdriver stethescope trick and the noise does not seem to be coming from any one particular place. It just sounds the same all over.
I'm just not sure wether the noise is lower end or the "wiggly" starter clutch.... or maybe something else.....
Thanks for your help in advance.
