    gs400 twin master cylinder replacement

Hey guys, im looking to replace the master cylinder on the bike. (GS400 ~79) Whatever is on there still works but it is VERY weathered and im worried it will crack at the slightest bump.

I'm not too keen on buying cheap universal **** from hongkong, is there a well suited replacement from another OEM? I'd love something chrome like the harley davidson and big suzuki boulevard.

Is there something out there? Can i just whack in something from a bigger bike?

I don't know about chrome replacements, but you can use one from a GS500.

You should look for a MC from a bike with a single caliper, and has the same plunger diameter (usually stamped on the outside of your current MC)

ok beautiful, gs500 looks like a good idea. Similar size bike, single disc. Cheap!
It looks like they're normally painted black, so i guess i could polish it up regardless.

another question, in regard to the GS500 - would the brake disc from that bike fit on the the front of the GS400? seems i can get the master cylinder/caliper/disc fairly cheaply

You mean the brake rotor? No way. The early GS rotors are very different than the GS500 rotors.

You can replace the plastic reservoir, but it's pricey.
I think in '82 Suzuki changed to a much nicer Aluminum master-cylinder. I have one off an '82 GSX400 and that would be a good fit for you,too...you could strip the paint off and polish it.
