i think i'm missing a piece in the clutch release mechanism

    Hi all,
Today i was going to install a new clutch cable and it looks like i'm missing a part, some kind of a knarp for the cable's end.
i looked at the fiche but cant see it there.
the way i installed it (see pic) it seems secured but i'm still worried that it might chaff and brake like this.
i looked at the article on bikecliff site but the part looks little different then mine
    any ideas?
Also, for a new cable, does the screw on top of the sprocket cover (where the cable passes)need to be screwed all the way down?
    thanks

The nipple needs to be seated into the holder fully - yours isn't, the widest part of the nipple should be sitting flat against the holder.

The cable screw as you call it is an adjuster - start with it it wound in and adjust by winding it out.

So it should be like this

      instead of this

no brass knarp or any sort of "nut" correct?

      Thanks

That's correct (as per you drawn one). Your artistic skills are way better than mine!

It maybe that the hole for the nipple has closed up a tad - it should fit snugly.

the nipple might be tapered as well, perhaps it will fit, move it up and down a bit to see if it will slide in at a point, this might prevent it from falling out when no tension is on the cable ?

I believe you are missing the same attachment piece that my step-daughter's bike is missing but is still found at the dealer. Ours is part number:

but I'm having a heck of a time finding your bike's information.
