    Clutch slipping

    Have an 82 GS1100EZ with 21K on it, seems like the cluth is slipping and the cable is adjusted out, so I believe that I would have to replace both the friction plates and metal plates?

    Try replacing the springs first.

        You have a two cylinder 1100?
        Get a manual and a caliper.
        Pull the clutch pack and measure the fibers and steels. Look for burnt steels and I like to take steel wool to them to get any glazing off of them.
        Replace the clutch springs with stock or aftermarket. I like to run the Barnett springs but I'm pushing more horse power but with stock motors I scatter the Barnett and stock springs.
        1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
        1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

              Hi Guys,

              i replaced the clutches and springs on my GS850 but i'm having issues adjusting the clutch, they are now slipping and also the first gear engages kind of hard. i believe i pour too much oil cause now it's leaking at the top of the engine (i have the gasket will replace that too). i used four quarts of oil! any help will be appreciated....

                Four quarts of oil is good, if the engine was completely dry and you also changed the filter.

                It would have been better to start your own thread, rather than resurrect one that was dead a year and a half ago.
