Remove cylinder without removing engine GS450?

    Hello!
Is it possible to remove the cylinder to get to the pistons without removing the engine from the frame?
    On a GS450E 1981
    Thanks!

Yep, just did this on my 1980 450, there's a lot of space, very easy to get the head on and off.

All easy one man thing, but with an assistant it's a little easier to put the cylinder back on. Just out of curiosity, why are you taking it apart?

I just had the whole engine apart to change the cam chain and all the gaskets, while doing so I took of the piston rings to check and measure them according to the manual. I have now realised that I have turned both the oil scraping rings the wrong way around so oil gets into the cylinder :-(
              annoying mistake!
