      Carbs need gone through.. The filter to airbox seal did nuttin..monday will be the reveal!

        Hey Barnbike, are you going to have your GR ready for Bike Nite at QS&L in Sharon next Wednesday? I'd like to meet up with you sometime...

          Hard to say. Hopefully no surprises when i open up carbs but i got a 98 orange 650 Savage.. I can go if im off..ill check schedule

            Storm, I didn't get a plate on the GR, I figured it was a pig in a poke, maybe blown up or something... and now have to wait till the title comes back to plate it. anyway, even if It's done by wednesday, I can't legally ride it just yet.
            however I am off and will plan to go to sharon on wednesday. maybe see if my bro in law can go to.. we usuallly hit them a few times a year just for laughs ( cookie cutter HDs hahah)
            I'l see what he weather is and let you know!!!!!!

              Sounds good Tom. Just look for a GS Suzuki. Probably be on the 850, I usually park by the corner by the BMW guys... Yeah, out of 1200 motorcycles there's usually two or three that interest me

                sounds great!! i got the carbs off!! the float level looks wildy wrong.. I am goint to post it inthe carb section, but I think they are all wrong!

                  bike runs fine.. pulls great!
                  The crap aftermarket bowl gaskets were rubbing the floats.
                  I trimmed the gaskets and all is well after setting the level at 23mm.
                  you can see the difference in the gaskets...one I trimmed, the other was not trimmed yet!!!
                  Floats were WAAAAY off, because someone ASS umed the level was too high and gas must have been overflowing. They then kept lowering the level till it stopped. Unforturnately it was over 1/4" off hehehehehehe. It's always something simple.. ya just got to find it!!!

                          WOW this thing is nice.
                          It is now plated, insured and riding. I need a PA inspection but it has new brakes front and rear, and 2 new dunlop tires so no problem there. it is the smoothest, most stable bike I've ridden for some time. It idles great, pulls with authority and altho I've not had it up too high in speed, feels like it will easily top 100. The speedo goes to 140, and while that might be very optimistic, I think the thing would do the ton quite easily.
                          there has developed an oil leak on the cylinder base gasket, in the front. the cam cover vent is ok,and with 30k miles who knows. After a half hour ride, it leaks enough to cover the front portion of the motor, like a teaspoon or so.
                          I am going to clean it off and apply some urethane just to see what happens. can't hurt and may slow it down!!!!

                            UPDATE:
                            I just replaced the front 15T sprocket with a 16T and what a difference!! it cruises at 60 almost 800 rpm slower and NO NOTICEABLE lack of pull when I roll it on!!!
                            I love this bike. (altho I do not like the base gasket leek lol but I clean it off every few days )

                              Good to hear you are likeing the bike(you lucky sod).
                              Question: I've heard the bike is a bit "viby" (?) at higher speeds.... something to do with the counterweight or whatever they put in to make the bike torquey at low rpm.... Any especial remark as to that? I'm curious because when I see one of these, I am always Tempted (haha) but it's gotta be at least as good as my gsx400 twins at 60-65 mph (and better than that dmned yamaha 650 I used to have in prehistoric times) or I'll be p'd off...!

                                Nothing to worry about.. just get one!! the vibes are way different than an inline 4, and still very different than an XS650.. very subdued . NOTHING like a triumph or similar twin..the counter balancer does the job!!! BUT the dual flywheel is for low end grunt and disengages at 3000 making it a revver too..
                                Compared to a 400 twin it will be like a dream come true...
                                Since I swapped to a 16T front sprocket, the vibes are less again at 60 mph.. it is just a very different feeling bike, and THE BEST I HAVE RIDDEN for a twin.
                                lots of pulling power and lots of low end grunt!! they were very good bikes, but didn't catch on cause of the styling and the name...
                                unless I decide I need money badly (possibly a down payment on a Honda Fury or Stateline hehehe), it is staying in the garage!!
