    How to diagnose burnt valve

Curious to know how I can diagnose a burnt valve on my 79 gs425.

    Thanks.

Bad compression that doesn't increase when you pour a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder. To do a proper compression test you should have a warm engine and hold the throttle wide open. Of course this assumes the bike runs. Oh, and always adjust the valves before doing a compression test otherwise the entire exercise is a waste of time.

    To measure is to know.

      Google leak down test.
      Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

      Past:
      VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

Thanks all. Just soaked carbs and did rings and she fired up pretty well. I'm going to do valve adjustment this week and then will try compression test. I already noticed plug in cyl 2 is oil fouled but will swap plugs out after adjustment and probably be back for more help. Thanks.
