    New Engine Noise

OK I know this will be a little hard to describe..muchless to diagnose..but I'll give it a try...When the engine is revving down..right around 3-2k rpms there's a raspy noise most clearly heard on the right side of the engine...without any real reason I'd suspect the timing chain...am I close? anything else on that side that could cause this? thanks...

The timing chain is in the middle. If a GS isn't making funny noises it isn't running. But your clutch hub nut could be loose.

Life is too short to ride an L.

A tinny rattle can also be one of the heat shield covers on the exhaust pipe coming loose. Or both. Or the clamp on the crossover pipe.

If the noise only happens in gear when you're coasting down it may be chain related.
