    Another drive chain guestion

I'm pretty certain my DID50UB chain is the original. Is this equal to a newer size (520,530) or just old stuff? Curious how it compares in link spacing etc.

Doing a search didn't turn up much and I can't find the post that had the width/spacing in mm that I read yesterday.

The sizes were the same, but chains are a lot stronger now. 530 chains are enough for even the most powerful bikes, there's no need for anything bigger on your 400, but I bet it came with a 530 anyway.

Just get all three pieces in the same size and get a quality O ring chain, it will last damned near forever.

      Hey Tom,

Just cleaned the rear sprocket and its marked 45/530. I'll assume 530 chain. Chain sure looks bigger than a 520. Thanks for the reply.

I did a typo up there, 530 is what's on the big bikes today. You sticking with the same ratio?

Yes. Stock gearing will be fine as its a local bike with very little highway riding. Mostly just in town fun as any long distance trips I'll ride the Ducati.

What I want was to make it quicker since you're not using it much on highways. Dunno about the 400 but my 450/500 would have benefitted from a bigger rear sprocket.
It would still do highway speeds, but be a lot more fun to get around on.
