GS450GA carb setting
I've cleaned and repaired the twin BS34 carbs on my 1983 GS450GA and also acquired a FSM for it. The manual doesn't give an initial setting for the pilot air screws on the rear of the carbs. It says something about "factory pre-set, no adjustment required". Could someone tell me where to start? How many turns out?
Thanking you in advance.Tags: None

If you have the FSM, you should already know that they are not "pilot air screws", they are just "PILOT screws".
That is because they actually control a mixture, not just air. Start with them set about 3 full turns out. When the bike is warmed up enough to run without "choke", turn the screws in slowly. listening for a change in engine speed. You might hear a slight increase first, then a decrease in speed. When you hear the decrease, stop, back the screws out about 1/4 turn, do the other carb.If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
