rebuild - Crankshaft and gearbox oil seals GS 550 1979 + clutch pushrod verisons ?

    1. I fully disassembled my motor today for full an thorough painting.
There two huge oil seals - one on the left crankshaft side and one on a gearbox shaft.
They stayed on their shafts and still look really good.
I'd replace them since it's first and probably last time this engine is open this far. But they are pricey :/ Is thre somebody who splitted crankcase halves here ? Any experience with all the bottom seals ?

    2. Second thing - I found out my clutch pushrod is in two parts - one short steel and one with two "threads" on both ends. I don't understand it since there is one long clutch pushrod with "thread" on one end on every scheme for GS 550 from 1977 to 1980 and further... Can anybody explain this to me ? Or maybe the PO put some weird pushrod inside when he broke the original ?

And it's like this on every 1977-1980 GS 550 scheme I've found...

Does the rod you removed consist of a very hard dense steel section and a light alloy one?

I have one apart now going back together for a big bore top end, I found all the engine seals either through partzilla or ebay. If partszilla has them they will be the cheapest and fastest to get, throw the suzuki part # from partzilla for those that show discontinued and try ebay, also look at what other models the stuff is used in on partszilla and search ebay by description and other models. Yes, that far in replace all the seals and be sure to wash all passages of contaminants especially if you sand or bead blast the cases.
