Cannot switch into neutral while stationary
After I replaced my friction plates and clutch springs it seems that I am not able to switch into neutral while stationary, especially it is literally impossible to do so from first gear- the shift lever just won’t go up. While the bike is coasting or with engine off, I can go into neutral pretty easily. Is it cable adjustment?1982 Suzuki GS650G project in BRG

Is the cable adjusted right? if not that could be the problem. Also is the little arm on the clutch cover sitting in the right position? The idea is to get the most movement of that little arm with one complete pull of the lever.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Did you get an "extra plate" kit? They are known for that. If not then expect it to be cable adjustment1980 GS1000G - Sold

Start with adjusting the cable. After you are sure that is good, polish up the new clutch plates a bit.
Put the front wheel up against something that will not move and will not be damaged by the tire. Put the transmission in a higher gear. Reve the engine a bit (3-4k), slide the clutch for a few seconds. Repeat this a couple of times.
The new plates have some high points that are evidently just enough to grab the adjacent steel plates. Sliding the clutch a bit as described will burnish off the high spots. If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

It has worked its way in. Seems better now but still a bit edgy. I think it will be alright after couple of hundred miles.1982 Suzuki GS650G project in BRG

Heavier aftermarket clutch springs cause excessive drag. You didn't say what clutch springs you used, but all new OEM springs, or three OEM and three aftermarket springs, will usually work a lot better and result in a much more user-friendly clutch pull.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Yes, it appeared that I ordered EBC springs which were HD. I did install 3 oem and 3 new HD springs. The issue has resolved on its own and might have been attributed to new plates not being broken in.1982 Suzuki GS650G project in BRG
