Base gasket seepage
My 1982 GS550M Katana engine has some oil seepage from front of base gasket, will this effect compression and should I try tightening, or just leave it? Engine has all original gaskets with only 7,500 miles done in first 10 years bike sat in a garage for 30 years before I got it running. ThanksTags: None

Once they start leaking, they usually won't stop after tightening. You can try, though. Nothing to lose. Leaking won't affect compression.Ed
To measure is to know.

Try cleaning the vent on the top of the motor and the hose going to the airbox
