    650 Head

If I got a nice 650 head/ pistons, can I just bolt it on my 550? Of course new gaskets etc. How would I widen the 550 case for 650 bore and will my 550 exhaust bolt up with no mods? Thanks

You may have to clearance the top case, so the sleeves will fit down. I've read in older threads here where people use a carbide burr on a rotary tool. The 550 cam chain sprockets should be used, since they match the sprocket on the crank. This is just some info off the top of my head, I've not done it myself. I've read several long threads here on the subject. You may want to search them out before beginning.

Just did some more research here on this swap and it’s more complicated than I can do.

If the 650 pistons and rings are in good condition, IMO it's possible to bore the 550 cylinder block to suit. Some machining of the piston crowns may be required to obtain clearance to the 550 head..
