    '79 GS850 gasket set question

I ordered a gasket set from Cruzinimage.net for my '79 GS850 and have a question about what is included. Per the following picture, where do the circled O-rings go in the engine?

I've searched the parts fiche and can't find them anywhere in the cylinder or head parts layout???? Are these to go on with the head gasket, around the outside studs? Are these specific to the GS850?

I've never encountered them before, or at my advanced age, I just can't remember!

    HELP!

And........no,......... I'm not using that base gasket!

I suspect those go in the head gasket outer stud holes. Notice how big those holes are? With the OEM gasket, the seals are molded into the gasket.

After searching Ebay for a picture of an OEM gasket, I think you nailed it!

I'll know more once I get it in my hands.

      Thanks Ed!

Actually, I think the 4 copper washers next to the O rings go on the corner studs

Yes, the copper washers go under the chrome nuts on the 4 outer studs on top of the head.

I believe the o-rings go into the openings for the 4 outer studs, "inside" the head gasket openings, if that makes any sense?

Yes, this is correct. Those o-rings go in the corners of the head gasket.

It's basically how the gaskets worked originally. There was a separate seal or o-ring here.

Later head gaskets (Suzuki changed the part numbers a few times) incorporated seals at these corners into the head gasket itself. Also, that rectangular o-ring for the center tunnel is not used with later head gaskets; the head gasket itself seals this area.

Either arrangement seems to work about the same, but there's more juggling and anxiety involved in making sure these o-rings stay in the right place.
