    Vibrations

    Hi all.
I was out on my 1979 GS850G on Sunday and noticed a vibration once I reached about 30 mph. There were no unusual noises to be heard, and it was running fine for over 100 miles and got home without any issues.
I did a visual inspection and couldn't find anything wrong.
I am thinking that it might be the CV Joint on the Drive Shaft.
I would appreciate any information and advice you could offer.
    very best regards
    Chris

Not had a driveshaft fail on either of mine and they've done huge mileage.
However, here's a tip. If you have to replace yours you'll be ultra lucky to find a 79 one, so get one from a 1980-onwards model and get the matching flange off the donor engine. It's one of the things that changed after 1979.

Thanks for that. Is it possible to replace the CV Joint itself.

A joint repair specialist might look at it, but there's much less material in it than a car or truck joint, so might decline.

Might want to check the final drive hub on the rear wheel also. Splines may be worn and only vibrating at certain speeds.
