I don't think i have to worry about anything getting blown off, the tank does not leak. I went to the suzuki store and everything is discontinued. Any suggestions on ignition components. The replacement coils that they were showing are $145.00 a piece that seems pretty expensive for just a coil?

I had a wire about 2 inches up from the cap on my 77 750 that was arching on #4... actually throught the rubber wire coating. Found this one day by accident reaching over it with the engine running and got poked pretty good. anyways the old timers i hang around with told me to take the coils off the bike and go buy some 100% silicone spray from the auto parts store and SOAK the entire wires at least 3 times letting it completely dry between applications.. This fills every micro crack with silicone and also waterproofs them at the same time.. i went one step further and rubbed the wet silicone in with my fingers then let it dry..figured why not work it in really deep.. to finish this long novel..It worked and i am still running the wires to this day. I then did it to the other two bikes as well just as a stop gap measure.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550
NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.
I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
