Found a piece and my oil.
The weather is getting nice again in minnesota i took my bike out of storage was changing on the oil and found this hanging out of the oil hole.I have no clue what it is. The bike does make a weird rattling noise in netural i am sure it has something to do with that. anyone know what the piece is from?Tags: None

Check out parts #40, #42, #43 in the transmisson fiche.
That would be my guess and would also explain the noise you are hearing without a load on the gears. NOT GOOD.Last edited by Dave8338; 03-30-2010, 12:58 PM.

Exactly what I was thinking; transmission part. Not something you want to see during an oil change .
On the positive side, this gives you a new opportunity to learn how your bike works when you repair it.
Good luck.

Agreed...some type of retainer clip from the transmission.
NOT GOOD.
Teardown time. And remember that lots of GSR folks are very knowledgable and willing to help out.
Good Luck.
