Clutch wont disengage
My clutch was slipping so I replaced the clutch and clutch springs on my 82 GS750T and now the clutch wont disengage. When I put it in 1st gear the bike just lunges and dies. I made sure I torqued the spring bolts to 10lbs per specs. The new springs were not suzuki brand and they appeared to be thicker than the ones I took out. Any helpTags: None

Is your cable adjusted correctly?
Any chance the plates are thicker than stock plates?Last edited by tkent02; 04-14-2010, 11:50 AM.

they did look thicker but I assumed that was because they were new. Everything went in smooth, same as removal. Clueless now

if the basket slides outwards much it will disengage from the oil pump gear and when the big nut is tightened the bike will be direct drive....no slip even when the clutch is pulled in.
remove the pressure plate and see if the inner hub will spin any.
if not,
thats what happened.
note:
if you didn't remove the big nut...
disregard the above comments.

Something must have gotten misassembled when you put the clutch back together. I'd take it apart again and double check everything.Ed
To measure is to know.

Chakaman , out of curiousity, about how long did it take you to do the job? I may be having to do it myself. I have the same bike and a similar problem. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=157511

My problem was slightly different - replaced the springs, worked fine at first, but then halfway through my next ride the clutch stopped disengaging. It seems the bearing between the clutch release rod and the pressure plate self destructed, possibly from misalignment when I put the new springs on (even though I never removed the clutch or pressure plate). I'd open it back up again and make sure everything is still lined up correctly in there, or you'll be looking for replacement parts - right, blowerbike?
