    Drive Train/cam chain

So i have a 82 Suzuki GS650 that i just put a brand new tire on and about a mile away from the shop something happened to the drive chain/cam chain. I noticed it was making a clanking sound when i would give it gas. Then it just stopped moving at all. If seems to go in gear, but it just makes a grinding noise when i give it gas and does not move. I dont know too much about this, but i assume it is a big job to fix. I am just trying to get a little more info. I love this bike, but i cant put anymore serious money into it. Any info woudl be appreciated. If you looking for a good parts bike i am in the DC area.
    Thanks,
    Mike

I'm assuming you have a 650G, which doesn't have a drive chain, but a shaft drive.

Your rear gear spline is stripped

You need to help us out here. Do you have a 650g (shaft drive) or a 650 e ( chain drive). The cam chain is in the cylinder head (hidden) and the drive chain is connected to the rear wheel.

          Greetings and Salutations!!

          Hi Mr. michaelgeza,

You'll need to remove your rear wheel and replace the spline gear. A new part can be had for $60 - $100 depending on where you shop. There is a large list of vendors in the "mega-welcome" and guides for rear wheel removal and a manual on my website.

          Here's a bad one:

Here's a bad one next to a new one:

You'll have to take your rear wheel off (guide on my site) and use a special lubricant on it. We like the Honda Moly60 paste:

Now let me give you the "mega-welcome"...
