    Thank you, "Skunky".

I was talking with "Skunky" today, he mentioned a problem with my valve adjust spreadsheet.

I checked on it, and sure enough, there is a problem.

The value of the "Final shim" is carried over from "Service 1" to be the "Present shim" in "Service 2" as it should be, but it's also carried over to ALL the other sheets.

I have now changed that so that the "Present shim" value for Services 3 through 12 comes from the sheet before it, not from Service 1.

I will be sending out the updated Version 4.1 starting tonight. There are over 325 registered users, so it will take a few days to get them all.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is better than the frustration of a spreadsheet that doesn't work properly.

      Hi,

Many thanks to Mr. Steve and Mr. Skunky! I hadn't had a chance to use the v4 yet. So I'll just wait for v4.1. You're never supposed to use a ".0" version anyway. The early adopters are always the "production beta" testers.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

I always thought it was the 0.x versions that you were supposed to avoid.

Yes, those are usually the "official" beta versions. But, for example, it didn't take Microsoft long to replace Windows 3.0 with 3.1. For the same reason, new operating systems are not deployed in many big businesses until the first service pack is released.

          But I digress...

Thanks for your work on the spreadsheet Steve. It's very handy.

OK, all 336 registered users have been updated.

Sorry it has taken a full week, but EVERYBODY has a new version.

            Anyone else want a copy?

STEVE, how hard is it to put a variance in the spreadsheet so users can alter the valve clearance to suit our own situation. I.E. You have used 0.055mm as the average figure taken from the minimum of 0.03 and the max 0.08mm. Just asking the question, not asking you to do it.

Some (me) like to run with a wider gap 0.08-0.1mm

              What do you think?

I think you asked me that some time ago in a PM.

I was working on it, then got sidetracked. THEN I got word from Skunky that there was an error that needed to be corrected.

I have it started, but will now have to incorporate the changes that were made in v4.1.
Let me know what you want as your mid-point (or the extremes) and I will get it ready for you.

                  Thanks STEVE,

.08mm would be the figure I would find useful,

                  Thanks and no hurry.

OK, v4.2 will have .08mm centerpoints for you, Don.
