    Is there any way to tell what final drive ratio a pumpkin has other than knowing the history of what model and yr GS it came off of? Maybe a part number or code on the drive?

    I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

    There are only two ratios: 2.9 and 3.1. Count rotations while turning the input shaft. A 1983 1100 should have the 2.9. Everything else on the final drive units are the same from 850 - 1000 - 1100.

      Well, this probably sounds pretty dumb. Is the input shaft at the universal joint end of things and you count revolutions where the pumplin mates with the wheel splines? Or maybe vice versa?
