Looking for pistons
I'm trying to rebuild my 1982 gs1000 katana and I'm looking for a piston kit. Does anyone know where I can get piston kits for this bike. Also I have noticed that some piston kits are .5mm or 1mm over, do I want to use these kits or do I just need the original kits?Tags: None

If your existing cylinder is in good shape you can simply get some stock pistons, hone the cylinder, and install everything back together with new rings.
If the cylinder is worn it will have to be bored oversize, which means oversized pistons - either .5, 1.0 or with a big bore kit.
One problem is that the 16V 1000 engine is somewhat rare so finding used parts in good condition can be difficult. I think you could install 1100cc parts if on a budget or if you don't care about authenticity.
Since you have a collectible bike I suggest you keep it as stock as possible since that will assure the highest value.Ed
