Beveled valve shims
Got some shims from the local snake oi.... er, I mean rec. parts dealer, which I noticed have little bevels around the edges of both sides, the shims I took out of the bike (78 GS750) did not have these. Is this normal? Are these for a different type fof bucket? Pic of the shim:

Not sure about the bevel but make sure they're 29.5mm diameter not 29mm. All the local dealers and tech shops around me only had the 29mm shims and still tried to sell them to me for my bikes. Virtually every other make of machine used the 29mm shims. If they are 29mm, don't use them on your zuke as they can potentially be thrown out of the bucket at high revs making a nice mess of your cams.It's smoke that make electronic components work.
Every time I've let the smoke out by mistake, they never work again.

Yeah, they're definitely zook shims, I measured them with a micrometer to make sure. Just a little weirded out by the bevel action.

Others with more engine nouse will be along hopefully but personally I wouldn't worry about the bevel. Only the middle part of the shim is in contact with the cam lobe. I didn't look that closely at those I've used before.It's smoke that make electronic components work.
Every time I've let the smoke out by mistake, they never work again.

Hi,
I've seen a lot of shims, not as many as others, but I've never seen a beveled shim. I think that might compromise the surface tension stiction that helps hold the shims in the buckets. Weird.

I've seen a bunch like that. My old 1000g was full of them. The bevel makes them easier to get in and out, so much so that I've run a file round the flat sided ones to simulate this.
Pretty sure for some years this was the stock shim.1980 GS1000G - Sold

From what I've seen (and that would be a bunch by now), the Suzuki factory shims come with a bevel on both edges. K&L do not have any bevel.
