Clutch won't disengage

OK, so... '81 GS1100L. Had a slipping clutch since I got it. End of last year I picked up a set of new springs, and only springs, hoping that would be enough to fix the slippage. It was. But halfway through my next ride, the clutch refused to disengage. Limped home, parked it for winter.

This spring I opened it up, and found the release bearing self destructed. Carved some nasty grooves into the pressure plate, too. So I scored some replacement parts from blowerbike, put them on, but the original problem of the clutch not releasing is still there. I also replaced the clutch cable and lever due to each of them breaking while trying to diagnose the original problem.

What could be causing this? Did I get the wrong clutch springs? I wish I could find my original ones, because even though they allowed slippage they at least worked and would answer this question. Any suggestions?

Sounds like something else is damaged or you didn't assembly everything correctly. We can't diagnose for you on the internet. Post some photos of the parts if you have any questions but I'd start by tearing the clutch back apart.
