    swingarm question...

    Hi all,

I have noticed a little sideways movement on my swingarm , when i grab the arm , I can move it a couple of mil either way sideways. Will this be bearings (does it have them in the pivot?) or just not enough torque on the pivot bolt? Or is it normal? I have noticed a bit of wobble at high (90+) speeds.

    thank you for your time...

    Mac.

Not normal as far as know. Have you had it apart lately? sounds like you are missing a spacer.

Time to pull the arm & replace/grease the bearings, pivot bolt, & all spacers. If the pivot bolt has wear on it, REPLACE it! Ray.

Interesting.... I swapped out the bearings but used all the old hardware. Didnt really think they were wear items. Please explain further o master...

I'm hoping not to have to replace the big bits, happy to swap out bushes for new but parts for this bike in the uk are quite rare and usually expensive. It costs us £32 for a cylinder head cover gasket so cant imagine what a new pivot bolt would cost. Will shimming it out to take up any play do the trick? steel washers aren't expensive. Not been working since november but have a job now, (I started saturday!) and need the bike to get me there and back. Once i start getting a regular wage I can start with the pricey repairs that it needs.

            thanks for your time...
