removed the head and tubes
removed them last night so i can take the head in to have the exhaust port bolt holes milled out and re-tapped...will be ordering a gasket set for the bike among other things and wanted to know what the process was for installing the head gasket and base gasket. is it a matter of just cleaning the surfaces and slapping on the gasket or do i need to use some kind of gasket sealer. also is there anything i should be doing while these parts are off since they are already off?Tags: None

No gasket sealer necessary.
In your gasket kit should be some valve seals. This would be a good time to replace them.
While the valves are out to replace the seals, a little lapping compound is a good idea.
Since you are not replacing the piston rings, honing the cylinders is optional.
Inspect the cam chain guides. They are considered a wear item, this is the best time to replace them, if necessary.
Call me when the parts come in, I can probably help you put them together.
