    Exhaust Valve ??

I have my motor apart and was looking at the head.

I noticed one of the exhaust valves seems to be more worn than the others. the lip that is showing isnt as high.

I havent removed the valve to see if its that valve or the head that is actually worn...??

But I wanted to see if you can replace the worn valve with a used one??

    Thanks!

(anyone have a used exhaust valve for a 79' GS 850??)

Yes, I have a used 850 head lying around somewhere. I am sure I can spare one of the valves.

I will have to see why it's been set aside and let you know.

If the ring isn't as high as the other valves it probably means it already has been replaced.
If I understand your terminology correctly it's less worn.

Well it looks like all i will need is a valve...

The one looks a little thin...dont you think???

Thin is an understatement. How did that happen and what does the rest of the head look like?

I am not sure what happend...

I just got the bike this summer. I had it running pretty good. But ended up breaking off an exhaust bolt. So the engine got torn down for a rebuild and bolt removal. Finding the worn valve was a bonus..ha

The rest of the valves/head look good.
