Missing Steel Plate in Clutch...
this was my slipping problem the whole time, today when i checked everything out i noticed a steel plate was missing so there was only 7 steels and i had 8 fibers, so i put in my brand new plates from the maill in with a steel plate first then one after another so my LAST TWO FIBERS do not have a steel plate in between them... this caused MAJOR slippage with that kind of space in there so i added another friction/fiber plate on the end and the clutch doesnt slip AT ALL not even a chance in hell will they slip now... i was riding all day today putting my head near the clutch area ocasionally looking to smell for anything while riding and holding in the clutch etc... everything seemed 100% does anyone know of specific damage that could be caused by doing what i did? i know its sorta like fixing it with a bandaid but it works perfect...John 3:16Tags: None

I'm not following what you did but regardless, you need to install a fiber first, and then steel, fiber, steel, etc. You need one more fiber than steel, and the first and last plate should be fiber. Please make sure everything is right and pull it back down if necessary.Ed

So what exactly are you running? If you have fibers stacked they will fail very quickly.
I have extra steels.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

sorry i know it was very confusing what i said, so basically i have 7 steel plates and 8 fibers i started with steel then fiber then steel and so on... the LAST 2 fibers do not have a steel inbewteen them=major slippage so i added ANOTHER FIBER to the very end near the spring cover... so the last 3 are straght fibers on the end with no steel... with the extra fiber on the end, the clutch is very tight and works perfectly imoJohn 3:16

As stated above...
First install a fiber, then steel, fiber, steel, etc. First and last are always fiber and there MUST be a steel in between each fiber.Ed
