    valve adj

I'm having a tough time with holding down the buckets, the tool sucks. No success with the zip tie. (78 1000) Can someone tell me the trick? I do this on my750F, 900F, 1100F, and CBX and am hip to the process. Thanks, John

Have you looked at the guides on basscliffs site?

      Hi,

It takes practice. It would slip off the bucket and splatter me with oil until I got the hang of it.

Make sure the curved part of the tool is stays firmly seated against the cam shaft as you press down on the bucket. It's like you're pushing in toward the cam while you push down on the tool.

Or, you can rotate the motor with the wrench you have hanging on the crankshaft, and use the tappet tool to hold down the bucket once the cam lobe has pushed it down. Continue turning the motor until the cam lobe is pointing up and then swap your shim.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

      BassCliff

Pull the plugs, look inside the hole using a flashlight and manually turn the engine over. You'll see the valve open, put the folded zip tie between the valve and the seat. Turn the engine till the valve closes.

        There ya go....

I use a screwdriver wedged on the side of the bucket to hold the valve depressor tool in place so it doesn't jump off the bucket. It's kind of a pain some times but take your time and get the screwdriver in there just right and the tool will hold.

Document all the numbers so you know what ya got, the gap and what you need.

Right on, I document all the #s on my sheet. Remember, I have a cbx, lotsa valves.
I can't wait to get this build running. It will be sharp. Albeit slow
