    Clutch not disengaging?

    So when my engine is running in neutral, I hold in the clutch and switch to first and immediately the rear wheel begins to spin. Does this mean the clutch isnt disengaging correctly?
    I would try to apply the brake and clutch at the same time, while in first, to see if it stalls but the rear brake is sortof not connected at all right now.

    Alrighty, just for this I put my rear caliper back together and bled the brakes. So stopping the rear wheel when its in first does NOT seize the engine! Does that mean the clutch is fine? whats making the rear wheel spin? oil tornado?

    On a side note, bleeding the brakes was a fantastic experiance, I used a large syringe and just pulled the fluid through the system until it no longer bubbled, took maybe 10 minutes.

      Until the oil is fully warmed up, the clutch plates don't disengage completely. You could term it "stiction" I guess. When I start my bike on a cold day (45 deg F and lower), it takes about 5 or more minutes before I can put it in 1st gear without it shutting off. I work the clutch a little bit while it warms up, the plates spin, oil warms up on the plates and they don't stick as much, then I can put it in gear.
