    Top end rattle

Had my 850 out today for it's first rum since rebuilding it and when running it 'hardish' there is a very loud rattle from the engine top end. I'm assuming it's the cam tensioner and what i'd like to know is can I adjust, check this without taking the engine out of the bike? Many thanks

You should be able to do both without taking the engine out. You might have to remove the carbs... Do a search as there is a great tutorial on Basscliff's website... He is my hero...

Quite often they need to be taken apart and cleaned to work properly
