I don't know about the whole motor, but I know the 850 pistons and jugs will bolt to the top of the '77 750 motor.

The 850's a shaftie, the 750's not. Converting is one of those "anything is possible with enough time and money" things.

What's wrong with the motor in the box, besides being in a box?

Is the motor "in parts"? How torn down is it? If the cases are still together I wouldn't be too concerned.

I do believe all the 8v motors have the same carburetor spacing...if so, the 850 carbs would fit.

Before you get too far into this project you need to consider two things:

First: Will the bike ever be road legal? People tearing bikes down don't usually have concerns over titles or recovery histories.

Second: What is the bike worth to you?

Basscliff's site has lots of info but for major work like that order the clymers repair manual for your bike. its well worth having around for such things.

I would say put back together what you got, oh and buy real Suzuki OEM gaskets... I am redoing my top end after only 6k miles because I got a cheap gasket kit last summer.

If you want to use the 82 motor with the 82 head you'll need to buy the carbs as well. Your 750 has VM carbs and they won't fit without a lot of work.

Best bet is to buy the motor and swap the cylinders and pistons over then bolt on your 750 head. Depends of course if the cylinders / pistons are in good shape.
