Depends on the bike...
if its an 8 valve.. For the base head and valve cover and assorted orings, I would go OEM all the way... The Vesrah (which Z1 sells) and other brands gaskets are sometimes poorly cut, and the Orings for the ported studs are usually junk and will fail within a couple thousand miles...
on a 16v motor, you MIGHT could get away with a Vesrah or the like kit, as they dont use those orings... and generally THOSE seem to be the larger problem...

The Vesrah kit is only cheaper because they leave out a lot of stuff. And they leave out the quality, too.
Buy OEM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

Okay so OEM is the way to go. My question now is does anyone have a gasket parts list for a 1980 gs1000g shaftie. I see that at one time OEM gasket sets were avail from suzuki(optional-on fiche)but there're no longer available. I would hate to pull everything apart and be left standing there saying i'm missing this or that gasket or o-ring,then wait a week for it to be delivered.Besides I'll be in enough trouble with the wife when i spread engine pieces across her finished basement floor.
Thanks for everyones help.
Chris
