    Clutch disk tolerance?

    Hi guys,
not a new member really, but for some reason I could not create posts or replies with my old account anymore

I was wondering how much "play" or tolerance is acceptable between the "tabs" on the friction disks and the clutch basket. Also is it possible to shim the basket for a tighter fit to the spline/hub nut setup?

I am looking mostly for how much those tabs should be able to move back and forth, if at all.
If you require further information I will provide what I can

    Edit: For a 1978 GS1000, (chain drive)

the manual gives a width spec of 14.8 mm or .580" it is called a driven clutch plate "claw" .They get a little smashed on the edges under heavy use.
