Are all of the valve adjusters still in place correctly?

No I mean are all of the screws and locknuts still there? One of them might have worked loose, fell out, rattled around and gotten jammed somewhere.

Think about it. Motor rotates a quarter turn so it's not truely locked up. If it moves, something is either blocking rotation or something is catching. I'd think the stopping like the front brake is on was just motion overpowering the clutches. If the bike rolls free in neutral, I'd check to see that the cam chain guides are intact and nothing is is out of place in the cam chain tunnel. If all is well there check to see if the pistons are in correct phase(i.e. that the crank didn't twist or break)

A clue! I vote for rotor/starter clutch, since starter can't turn even in neutral. something fell off and it's now jamming!

alright so i removed clutch cover and everything is in order no metal shaving or anything that isnt normal. just now i also removed stator cover and gears look excellent no shavings or anything like that. right now im thinking that something broke somewhere more internally like a piece of tensioner and its blocking something at one point. the engine actually rotates 180 degrees not 1/4 turn like i thought before.

ok i found it dont know how i missed it the first time one of the lifter nuts is gone. how far can it go how deep do i need to disassemble already tried magnet but chain is the only thing that sticks

If you take the clutch basket off you can see the crankshaft

Sounds like the missing nut might be caught in the cam chain. Try rotating the engine backward to see if it falls to the bottom.

As mentioned, you can see a lot of the crankcase by removing the clutch basket.

Next easiest access is by dropping the oil pan, but you usually have to remove the exhaust to do that.

thanks guys i'll do that tomorrow, i thin the nut is at the bottom of the crankcase by looking at the manual i see that one of the shoulders of crank has cuts and then the rest is round i think thats why it allows me to rotate it between the cutaways. now i need to find clutch cover and stator cover gaskets as mine are gone.

Nut might be jammed into the sprocket teeth on the crank

                          ^^ thats what im thinking
i took primary gear off last night and found absolutely nothing. most likely it went under the chain and is on one of the teeth of the crank chain sprocket.
I am a bit at a loss right now of what to do option one is to rebuild this engine which is in prestine condition all the gears mechanisms everything looks just wonderful almost factory fresh. But gaskets alone will run me more than a used 1000/1100 engine with questionable history. ahh the dilemma to restore or to upgrade?

Get a magnet on a flexible shaft and go in from all holes you can. Go under rotor too-should be an openning. keep jiggling crank back and forth, maybe you'll get lucky.

thats pretty much what i did but i think its jammed under the chain so disassembly is pretty much only thing left to do
